Bournemouth, a newly promoted Premier League side held Newcastle to a 1 – 1 draw in a highly contested match. Newcastle has had just one win since the season started, which was in their opening match. They have struggled with draws in their last five matches, including the goalless draw against Crystal Palace.
Newcastle had a bright start to the match against Bournemouth wasting no time creating chances in the penalty box of their counterparts. The visitors had a slow start to the game, making some mistakes and easily losing the ball to the hosts.
In the 27th minute, Trippier had a shot on target, but it hit the post and went out for a goal kick. Newcastle came close to taking the lead in the 43rd minute, but Joelinton’s shot bounced off the woodwork, and another one was saved by Neto. Fraser tried a brilliant shot from the rebound but Neto also denied him, so the game remained goalless at halftime.
The match finally got its first goal in the 62nd minute, but this time, Bournemouth takes the lead, as Billing stuck out his long leg to divert a near-post Zemura cross past the stranded Pope.
Five minutes late, Isak scored a penalty for the home side, after a cross from Trippier inside the box clipped Lerma’s left hand. Both teams tried to take the three points but no opportunity could be converted.
