Zach Wilson, a quarterback for the New York Jets, allegedly had an affair with his mother’s best friend, according to his ex-girlfriend.
Abbey Gile called the 22-year-old a “homie hopper” and alleged on Instagram that he “was sleeping with” the unidentified woman.
She began dating the NFL star’s former college roommate, Washington Commanders wide receiver Dax Milne, after the couple’s separation in January.
The argument broke out when Milne shared a photo of the newlyweds on social media with the phrase, “Word on the Street.”
One commenter accused Gile of being a “homie hopper,” or someone who dumps one person and starts dating their closest buddy right away.
But she retorted: “[Wilson] was sleeping with his mom’s best friend… that’s the real homie hopper.”
Another commenter wrote under the post: “Lol, it’s true. I know the best friend’s mom and she freaked out about it for a while.”
In reaction to the event, Jets assistant equipment manager Joe McMahon said about Milne: “Idk what’s going to be the bigger joke this relationship or your NFL career.”
With only three victories in his first 13 games for the Jets, Zach Wilson had a miserable rookie campaign. He also managed just nine touchdown passes. The annual value of his deal is $35 million.
Zach Wilson has not addressed the claim as of the time of this writing.
