The most recent Netflix documentary, The Most Hated Man on the Internet, chronicles the fight against Hunter Moore and the revenge porn industry.
A distressing three-part docuseries called The Most Hated Man on the Internet centers on Moore, a man who called himself a “professional life ruiner” and created the website IsAnyoneUp.com where people could publish graphic pictures of themselves in public.
In order to show how Hunter Moore met his demise at the hands of one lady, Charlotte Laws, the docuseries conducts interviews with some of the people who fought to have their photographs removed from the website as well as law enforcement officials and independent campaigners who engaged Hunter Moore.
Who Is Hunter Moore & How Was He Caught?
The revenge porn website IsAnyoneUp.com was founded by American criminal Hunter Moore. Users of the website were able to submit anonymously explicit pictures of others without their permission. Their social media profiles and contact information were also posted on the website along with those images.
Currently, not much is known about Hunter Moore. He was apprehended by the FBI in 2014, and for his actions he received a two and a half year prison term. In addition, a $2000 punishment and a $145.70 reparation fee were imposed on him.
Since his release from prison in 2017, he has maintained a low profile. But a year after his release in 2018, he did publish his own book about the website, Is Anyone Up?! : The Story of Revenge Porn.
He was supposed to take part in The Most Hated Man on the Internet, but he later withdrew, according to producer Vikki Miller. The documentary next turned its attention to Charlotte Laws and the exceptional detective job she did.
Charlotte Laws: The Who & Why Of This One-woman FBI
Charlotte Laws, the main character of The Most Hated Man on the Internet, is the mother of one of the website’s numerous victims.
The documentary series follows Charlotte as she fights for justice for both her daughter Kayla and the other victims.
She was among the first to assert that Hunter Moore was involved in a hacking plot to obtain pornographic images for the website. Her assertions weren’t taken too seriously at first. She started compiling a dossier of proof and talking to other victims all around the world before eventually presenting her findings to the FBI, who opened an inquiry into Hunter’s actions.
Charlotte has also led her own interesting life. She was working as an insurance company investigator at the time when she found out about Kayla’s pictures being leaked, but over the years she’s been a politician, a talk show host, a columnist, author and a TV pundit at NBC and the BBC. Surprisingly, she also once dated legendary singer Sir Tom Jones!

Just 16 months after the site’s founding, James McGibney, one of the guys who brought Hunter Moore down, bought the website from Hunter Moore and had it configured to route all web traffic to his anti-bullying website.
