Full List Of Nominees, Winners, Categories & Songs At The Tony Award 2022

At the 75th Tony Awards on Sunday, “A Strange Loop” was chosen best musical, while “The Lehman Trilogy” was named best play. The award for best revival of a musical went to “Company,” and the award for best revival of a play went to “Take Me Out.”

Five awards were given to “Company,” which rewrote Stephen Sondheim’s iconic musical by changing the protagonist’s gender to convey a more female-focused plot. Its success was bittersweet because it came just seven months after its creator, who died at the age of 91, passed away.

The ceremony, which proceeded with typical glitz and glam, marked the end of one of the most turbulent periods in theatre history. Broadway began slowly reopening at the end of last summer after being closed for nearly two years due to COVID, but its recovery has been patchy.
