Reports have it that a federal high court sitting in Abuja has turned down the bail grant of the former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) over an alleged fraud of 2.9 billion naira.

This is coming after it was reported that the officers of the anti-graft agency stormed Okorocha’s house and forcefully broke into his home to arrest him.

The case was preceded by a judge identified as Justice Inyang Ekwo who stated that he was not ready to admit him to bail after the defendant told the court that he is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and his political intention would be compromised unless he is granted bail.

In response to the bail request, Justice Ekwo instructed Okorocha to notify the Federal Government to uphold his arrest.
