A police officer shot a man who struck a female officer with a baseball bat.
The incident happened at West Mercury Blvd in Hampton, at about 11.37 am.
The shooting happened after police officers were called at Wynne Ford dealership, about a disorderly man with a bat.
The man was said to be receiving treatment for live threatening injuries while the officer attacked had none.
