Reports have it that the military has taken over the government in Burkina Faso (An African Country) and the president, Roch Kabore has been overthrown with his location unknown.
It was reported that the army abducted power ‘without any physical violence against those arrested, who are being held in a safe place, with respect for their dignity.
It was also stated that the coup was a result of the high rate of the blood-soaked armed clash which has claimed the lives of thousands and displaced millions of citizens across the country.
Many inhabitants were reported to have gathered to show their support for the military take over as they have lost their belief that president Kabore can protect them from militants killing and terrorizing their land.
Following the case of the unlawful takeover, the general secretary of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres room to his verified Twitter page to announce that he is following Burkina Faso’s case with deep concern as he urged that the army take down their weapon and ensure the safety of the president.
In Antonio’s words, he wrote;
“I am following development in Burkina Faso with deep concern & strongly condemns any attempted takeover of government by the force of arms”, calling the events a coup.
“Coup leaders must lay down their arms & ensure the safety of the President and the protection of the country’s institutions,”
