Update: Nigeria Gives Guideline On Covid-19 Vaccine Booster Dose

The Nigerian Federal Government released an update on guidelines and application of Covid-19 booster doses for fully vaccinated people.

Read the full statement below:

“The Presidential Steering Committee in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of
Health and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) in line
with experts’ recommendations has approved the administration of booster doses
for persons that have completed 2 doses of AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer
Bio-N-Tech or 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

“Pfizer Bio-N-Tech or Moderna vaccines (mRNA vaccines) are to be used as booster
dose regardless of the type of vaccine an individual took as 1st and 2nd doses.

“Johnson & Johnson (J&J) can be given as booster dose to individuals that took J&J
as 1st dose. But, AstraZeneca vaccine is not to be used as booster for individuals
that took AstraZeneca vaccine as 1st and 2nd doses.

“The eligibility criteria for a booster dose include:
• Any person 18 years and above
• Time interval of 6 months or more after receiving the second dose of AstraZene
ca, Moderna and Pfizer Bio-N-Tech
• Time interval of 2 months or more after receiving Johnson and Johnson vaccine,
as first dose.
