Scott Peterson was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday without the possibility of parole for the murder of his wife and their unborn son.

49 years old Scott was originally convicted and sentenced to death in 2005, for killing his wife – Laci, and their unborn child, a boy posthumously named Conner.

However, the judgment was reversed last year after the California Supreme Court discovered that a juror was involved in other legal proceedings.

Laci’s family reportedly said they would not press to re-instate the previous death sentence because of the emotional pains it drives them through.

In court, Laci’s mum told Scott Peterson that he killed her daughter because he didn’t want the responsibility of being a father. “You’re a coward”, she added.

Referring to the murder of her unborn grandchild, she said;

“He would have been 18 years old by now. Ten months ago, you would have been free of child support and not have to worry about being responsible for a child”!

Laci Peterson, Scott Peterson’s late wife, was 7 months pregnant with their unborn child when she was declared missing on December 24, 2002. In April 2003, her body and that the unborn baby was found, washed up ashore, and separated.
