Days after Shatu Garko, a northern hijab model won the 44th ‘Miss Nigeria’ title after contesting with 36 other models from different states of Nigeria, Kano Hisbah set to arrest and interrogate her parents.
According to the Hisbah commander, Sheikh Haruna Ibn who ordered the arrest, he stated that it was against the law of Muslims from Kano state to involve in such a contest, as women are only expected to expose their bodies and makeup only to their husbands.
He further explained that the arrest was to interrogate Shatu’s parents for allowing her to partake in a competition that is against their belief.
Haruna also stated that the arrest will serve as a lesson to other girls in the state who have the motive of partaking in such a contest.
In his words, the Hisbah boss said;
“This will prevent her and other Muslims girls in the state from copying from her in future,”
“Based on this, it is sinful for a girl as a believer to be part of this competition,”
