Brian Williams announced that he will be leaving NBC News and MSNBC by the year’s end, after 28 years of service.
“This is the end of a chapter and the beginning of another,” Williams said in a statement. “There are many things I want to do, and I’ll pop up again somewhere,” he said.
Though Brian Williams did not specifically disclose his reason for leaving NBC News & MSNBC, it was reported that in August, CNN Business disclosed that his contract with the News company will expire in the next 6 months.
The 11th Hour News show which Brian Williams anchored for the last five years will however continue to run.
