Ayuba Abok, a first-time lawmaker representing Jos East state constituency was impeached in the early hours of Thursday 28th October 2021.
It was learned that 8 out of 24 members of the Assembly convened as early as 6 am and passed a vote of no confidence on the sitting Plateau House of Assembly speaker – Ayuba Abok, and immediately replaced him with Yakubu Sanda, a lawmaker representing Pengana constituency, under APC.
It was also gathered that the Assembly usually starts activities by 9 am, and if there was going to be an exception, the speaker was going to be in the know. Also impeaching the speaker of the house requires a 2/3 majority vote or 16 members.
