You must have heard about the WWE Fast-Lane Wrestling event for 2021 which was just held on Sunday night, 21 March. However here are some summarized facts about the pro-wrestling event which you might or never knew.
1. The WWE Fast Lane is a professional wrestling pay-per-view and WWE Network event organized by WWE for their own Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. It simply means it’s a wrestling event between wrestlers in Raw and Smackdown, i.e Raw versus Smackdown!
2. WWE Fast Lane was first produced in 2015 and has been an annual event until 2020 when it was substituted for the Super Showdown PPV. However, it came back this year, 21st March 2021, and was exclusively distributed by Peacock.
3. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, most of the events of the WWE Fast Lane 2021 were produced behind closed doors. In mid-2020, trainees were first used as live audiences, which was later expanded to included family and friends of wrestlers.
4. The WWE Fastlane 2021 made use of Thunderdrome which is a virtual video-conferencing crowd system and arena staging developed by WWE for the broadcast of its wrestling shows and WWE Fast lane wrestling event. It enabled WWE fans to attend the wrestling shows virtually and feel the sound effects of the arena. This technology was developed as social distancing was enforced as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. The Thunderdome employed the use of drones, lasers, pyro, smoke, and projections, which were used to enhance the wrestlers’ entrances on a level similar to that of pay-per-view productions pre-pandemic. Almost 1,000 LED boards were used to construct rows of audience rows that displayed virtual fans in attendance.
5. Just like other WWE wrestling matches, the WWE Fastlane matches are results of scripted storylines. The events, matches, winners, as well as losers, have already been pre-staged. Guess this is not a new or shocking fact to any true WWE wrestling fan!
