The two telecommunications giants in Nigeria notably MTN and Airtel will be suspending sales and registration of new sim cards pending completion of an audit on their operations by the Nigerian Communications Commission- NCC.
The duration of the audit was not made known. However, all other services such as sales of airtime and data purchases will continue.
This is coming at a time the Federal Government through the NCC is mandating all sim users to link to sim cards to their National Identity Numbers (NIN).
