There has been pandemonium over the weekend as members of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, known as SARS or FSARS, allegedly shot dead a man in Ughelli, Delta State. He was reportedly killed and his white Lexus SUV, driven off by the killer SARS. This news renewed the energy across Nigerians to scrap the SARS arm of the Police Force as they have done more ill than good.

Immediately, protests sprung up across some neighborhoods and some notable public figures in the likes of Wizkid took to their social media handles to condemn the act and the Force in general.

However, the Police PR for Delta State and Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, who hails from same Delta State has refuted the report. According to them, the Police Arm involved was not SARS,  but Operation Delta Safe, which is a special unit of Nigeria Army, and there was no shooting nor death. They held that the man who was falsely alleged to be shot was with another man in their car when they sighted men of Operation Delta Safe and sped off. The Army wing pursued after them and caught up with them in front of a hotel. They were then evacuated into the Army’s Hilux and as the vehicle was moving, the man alleged to have been shot jumped down in a bid to escape and sustained injures in his head and other parts of the body. They said he is alive and okay.

What do you have to say about this? Who is right or wrong? The eye witness report or Police report?
