  1. NASCAR means National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing…wow
  2. NASCAR is a privately owned company, founded by Bill France Sr. in 1948 and his son, Jim France, has been the CEO since August 6, 2018. The car racing company’s headquarter is situated in Daytona Beach, Florida.
  3. Every year, NASCAR organizes over 1,500 races at over 100 tracks in 48 US states. They are also present in Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
  4. Stock Car Racing in the United States originated when drivers would smuggle prohibited bootleg whiskey. They would customize small fast cars and enhance them with increased cargo capacity. The small fast cars were needed to evade the police. When the prohibition was lifted, the redundant supercars metamorphosized into racing cars and shows.
  5. Car Racing was associated with high fraud as the car racing promoters would frequently abscond with all the money before the show ends and the drivers would go unpaid!

    Erwin Baker aka Erwin “Cannonball, was the first commissioner of NASCAR. He was a former stock car, motorcycle, and open-wheel racer who has over one hundred land speed records. He also raced in Indianapolis 500.
  7. Wendell Scott was the first African-American Hall of Famer to win a race in the Grand National Series, NASCAR’s highest level.
  8. The car racing at Daytona Beach, Florida, March 8, 1936, saw only 10 cars survive to the finish line out of 27 cars!
  9. NASCAR originally had three distinct divisions: Modified, Roadster, and Strictly Stock. The Strictly Stock Racing was delayed as American Automobile Manufacturers as at then, couldn’t meet up with demands for normal family sedan cars, save Stock!
  10. The first NASCAR competition held outside of the U.S. was in Canada on July 1, 1952.
