Movies that make the nomination to the Oscars this time have been released to the public, and Emilia Pérez of Netflix was nominated 13 times, shattering the award’s record. The categories where Emilia Pérez appears include cinematography, sound, best picture, best song, editing, and visual effects. Karla Sofía Gascón, who stars in the movie, becomes the first public transgender person to make the Oscars’s acting nomination list with her best actress nod.

Wicked comes in second after Emilia Pérez and was nominated ten times. The nomination categories for Wicked include best score, costume design, and production design. The stars who made the list as best actress and supporting actress are Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, respectively.

Other movies that appear in the best picture category alongside Emilia Pérez are Anora, The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Dune: Part Two, Conclave, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys, Wicked, and The Substance.

This edition will make it the 97th Academy Award, and it is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles on March 2, 2025.
