The number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits crashed to a record low in the past 52 years.

The positive statistics are coming despite the downturn of the economy brought about by Covid-19 lockdowns.

Unemployment claims fell by 43,000 to 184,000 and it was reported that it has been on a decline on average most of the year.

The decline in unemployment claims and unemployment rate, which dropped to 4.2% from 4.6% in October, is, however, coming despite 210,000 job losses recorded by the Labor Department the previous week.

The US Labor Department also recorded that there were 11 million new job openings by employers and 4.2 million people quit their jobs.

The high number of people who quit their jobs could be a result of a better offer or prospect or perhaps, due to employers of labor mandating their workers to get vaccinated or risk losing their jobs, such as the case of Allison Williams and some officers in the US army.
