When the NFL tries to relaunch in 2023, the XFL is leaving Tampa and moving to Orlando.
The eight cities that will host XFL clubs were revealed by league officials on Sunday: Orlando, Florida, Arlington, Texas, Houston, Texas, San Antonio, Nevada; Las Vegas; Seattle; St. Louis; and Washington, D.C. Former NFL cornerback Terrell Buckley will serve as the team’s head coach in Orlando, where games will be played at Camping World Stadium.
The league’s kickoff is slated on Feb. 18, 2023.
A season schedule and the Orlando team’s name have not yet been made public (In Tampa, the team was known as the Vipers). However, the XFL website already sells team gear for “XFL Orlando.”
A rival football league to the NFL called the XFL debuted in early 2020, but owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had to cease play. The FOX-owned USFL (United States Football League) debuted earlier this year with eight clubs spread out around the nation.
