Sammy Sosa’s Career

His veteran career began with Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox as a free-swinger before he moved to Chicago Cubs as an everyday player. From there he became an All-Star and finally one of the most dangerous sluggers in the game.

Sammy’s energetic mannerisms like his leg kick, his powerful swing, the little hop before jogging around the bases and his kiss toward the sky after crossing home plate glued fans to their tv screens.

He played 18 seasons in the major leagues and was a seven-time All-Star with the Cubs amassing a .273/.344/.534 career slash line and hit 609 homers, which ranks ninth on the all-time list. Sosa also had a record-breaking total of 425 bases in 2001.

for the home runs, he’s the only player in baseball history to hit 60 or more homers in three different seasons. He also hijacked 234 bases in his career, three times swiping more than 30 in a season.

2022 is Sosa’s final appearance on the Hall of Fame ballot where he is set to take one final swing at Cooperstown.
