AFC Bournemouth fought hard to earn a needed three points after beating Brighton 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium in a Premier League contest.
The home team secured the first goal in the first half after a beautiful finish by Alex Scott after turning on the edge of the area, before he hit a shot that passed Brighton’s goalkeeper through an assist from Antoine Semenyo.
Brighton could not give their best in the game, as they were affected by injuries to Maxim de Cuyper and Jack Hinshelwood, while they pushed hard to equalize. Still, their efforts only materialized before the end of the first half, securing a draw after halftime.
The equalization happened after Kaoru Mitoma fired into the net with a fine header at the back post from a cross by Yankuba Minteh.
It later looked like the game would favour Brighton, but the home side did not wait long before gaining control of the match. Semenyo later helped his side to seal the win after converting an opportunity from the penalty spot when Evanilson was fouled in the box by Jan Paul van Hecke.
AFC Bournemouth gave a fight-to-the-finish display as they denied Brighton from equalizing in the scrappy encounter. The win leaves Bournemouth in fourth position and Brighton in thirteenth position on the Premier League table.
