Phillies Kyle Schwarber has cemented his name in the MLB Book of Records with yet another electrifying performance against the Atlanta Braves.
He hit four home runs in the game, becoming the 4th Phillies player and the 21st star in MLB history to achieve this feat.
“It’s pretty cool,” Schwarber said. “It was a fun night, great atmosphere. Wouldn’t want to do it with a better group of guys than we have here.”
Schwarber’s feat covers a milestone only reached in 1976, almost fifty years ago.
The star was instrumental in their 19-4 win against the Braves on Thursday. He recorded nine RBIs in the game, taking his overall tally to 119 RBIs.
Before the game, Kyle had been struggling. He failed to hit home in his last 20 hits. But all he needed was just one solid game to be called the most voted player.
“You can do everything right and get out, and you can do everything wrong and get a hit. Got some pitches and put some good swings on it,” he said.
His added home runs also push him ahead of his MVP opponent, the Los Angeles Dodgers unicorn Shohei Ohtani, who also has 45 home runs in total.
The Phillies would depend on Kyle to lead their offense in the coming weeks
