Football legend Lionel Messi and Inter Miami have been knocked out of FIFA the Club World Cup in the round of 16 by French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Going into the game, Inter Miami were the underdogs, but some people would not put a goal or two past the legendary Messi, who his arguably the greatest player in the world.
However, the greatest player was handicapped throughout the game as he could not get past the French giants’ defence, especially in 1-v-1s against Nuno Mendes.
By half-time, PSG were already leading by four goals. The first goal came as early as the sixth minute.
The French giants were not in the United States to play and they made it very clear. They might add the FIFA Club World Cup stack to their great year.
In the 39th minute, Neves made it two with a simple tap-in after an unselfish pass from Fabian Ruiz.
It couldn’t get any worse for the United States powerhouse when Tomas Avile put the ball in his own net to extend PSG’s lead.
Whatever miracle Inter Miami needed to topple the game would be the greatest. But even the miracle seemed far.
And just before halftime, PSG scored another goal. It was a train of goals at this point. There was no coming back from this. Even Messi could not see a silver lining.
Messi got his first shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but it did nothing to faze Donnarumma. The second half was a bit of balanced play. Inter Miami came forward quite a few times and PSG retaliated.
At the end, PSG managed the ball and kept their four-goal lead till the finish.
