France’s Far-Right Leader Le Pen Sentenced And Fined For Embezzlement

France’s far-right leader, Le Pen, has been convicted of embezzlement. She was sentenced to four years in jail and also grabbed a five-year ban from running for any political office.

This was a big dent in her ambition since she was going to contest for the highest French office.

Le Pen has carried quite the supporters club, with many encouraging her to run for President so that she can make France great again. But after the ruling by the Court, her chances look bleak.

In a bid to change the narrative, Le Pen accused her opponent of fueling a political witch hunt against her. She also claimed the ruling was a violation of the rule of law and she was going to appeal.

Le Pen has been under investigation for almost ten years, mainly covering her time in charge of the European Parliament funds. She was accused of embezzling more than 3 million Euros to pay party staff.

When investigators felt they had enough, they charged Le Pen with embezzlement and were ready to go to any length she wanted to go. The next time they went at each other publicly was her trial which started in November. At the end of the public subtle feud, she was convicted and fined.

If Le Pen can not resolve her sentencing before the French elections, she will have to give way to possible leader Jordan Bardella.

The number of citizens who want current French President, Macron gone has increased in the last few months. Many of them are bending to receive and accept Le Pen’s opinions, and new polls show she would easily become the next French President should she run for office in the elections.

The ruling came as a shock, especially to Marine. She did not think the Court would give her such a harsh sentence, especially since she was holding a public office already.
