Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter’s goals put an end to Brighton & Hove Albion’s eight-game smiles run in the Premier League after a 2-0 win on Thursday at Portman Road against Ipswich Town.
The victory pushes Brighton’s total points to 31 in the local league while they now sit in ninth position on the league’s table while Ipswich has returned to the relegation area on goal difference, 17th place.
Ipswich Town had a good start with Liam Delap and Nathan Broadhead almost finding the net but Brighton’s goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, saved his side.
Omari Hutchinson also created an opportunity before the end of the first half, but the day was not a lucky one for Ipswich Town, which was unable to convert the chances.
Brighton scored the first goal in the game in the 59th minute through a combined effort by Yasin Ayari and Matt O’Riley to set up Mitoma for a calculated finishing. Rutter, who came into the game as a substitute, scored the second goal in the 82nd minute to seal the victory for Brighton.
Ipswich Town could not score a goal or equalize despite Christian Walton’s great saves that denied Joao Pedro in the early minutes of the game, creating an avenue for Ipswich to celebrate again after many winless games.
