
Union Berlin secured a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory in the 34th week of the Bundesliga against Augsburg, thanks to two late goals scored by Andrej Ilic, who entered the match as a substitute.
In the first half, the game appeared to favor Augsburg, as they scored the opening goal through Phillip Tietz in the 41st minute. However, the narrative changed due to the relentless effort of Union Berlin.
Andrej Ilic came on as a substitute in the second half and quickly made his mark, scoring Union Berlin’s first goal in the 68th minute and completing a brace in the 93rd minute, earning him the honour of Man of the Match.
Goalkeeper Finn Dahmen and defenders, including Zesiger and Gouweleeuw, were part of the 4-4-2 formation for Augsburg, the same formation used by the visitors, Union Berlin, under head coach Steffen Baumgart.
The win was achieved and goals scored by Ilic through an assist, and good play was made by those in the front line for Union Berlin, including Preu and Hollerbach
The match was not an easy one between the two teams, played at the WWK Arena with Felix Brych as the official. The victory lifts Union Berlin to 13th on the league table with a total of 40 points, just behind Augsburg with a total of 43 points.
