Santa Cruz Fire confirmed the tragic news of a 150-foot section of the Santa Cruz Wharf collapsing into the ocean with three of the construction workers falling along.

A video surfaced on the internet, as captured by Jenny Caye Marini, revealed someone who was standing on the floating party of the collapsed wharf in the water. Watch below:

Among the three construction workers, one was able to swim out from the water while the other two were rescued by lifeguards. No causality or major injury was recorded.

Debris from the Santa Cruz Wharf and likely dangerous materials were released as the collapse occurred, as reported by Santa Cruz Fire. The city immediately shut Cowell’s Beach and Main Beach in response to the collapse.

A section of the wharf’s bathroom structure was seen on the water in an area that is very close to a cliffside at the eastern edge of the Boardwalk. The collapsed part has also been shut down because of storm damage that occurred earlier.

The wharf was also closed down for the remainder of the day. A warning alert was also issued for high surf and coastal flooding, which are still in effect, adding to the battles that the area currently faces.
