Nordi Mukiele scored a late, surprising 90th-minute goal that gives Bayer Leverkusen a deserving 1-0 win against Inter Milan, making the team the first to destroy Inter’s defense in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

This victory pushes Bayer Leverkusen to the second position in the group standings of the UEFA Champions League and makes it their sixth consecutive win in all competitions.

The win was a deserving one for Bayer Leverkusen as they dominated the match early with Nathan Tella nearly scoring in the second minute and filling in the place of forward Victor Boniface and Patrik Schick, who missed the match because of injury.

Nathan Tella, a Nigerian international, hit the crossbar after he connected with Jeremie Frimpong’s lofted cross, making it the first attempt in the game.

Inter Milan depended on their ability in the defense while they did not do as expected on the offensive side. Their catenaccio approach did not cause any trouble for Bayer Leverkusen with Matej Kovar untested in the Leverkusen goal.

The second half did not witness much difference from the first half, with Bayer creating little chance, and they were unable to break through. In an attempt to change the course of the game, Inter brought in stars like Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella but were unable to make much difference.

While it looked like the game would end in a draw, Alex Grimaldo’s continuous pressure helped to keep the attack alive, giving Mukiele the opportunity to successfully find the net.
