Atletico Madrid extends their domination after a 3-1 win against Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League, extending their unbeaten streak to 10 matches in all the competitions they played.

The loss for Slovan Bratislava means that they have exited the UEFA Champions League after losing all their six games in all the group stage matches.

Atletico Madrid, under head coach Diego Simeone, dominated the match in the early minutes with Julian Alvarez scoring a calculated opener through an assist from Samuel Lino.

Tigran Barseghyan‘s fine shot hit the crossbar, stopping Slovan from equalizing, but the injury he sustained minutes later added to their problem. Antoine Griezmann also scored a goal that made it double for Atletico Madrid by heading in a cross from Marcos Llorente.

David Strelec successfully converted a penalty in the second half into a goal, which boosted the club’s hope. Atletico Madrid’s Griezmann restored the two-goal cushion moments later with a near-post strike. While Slovan made late pressure, Atletico Madrid did not give up as Jan Oblak made a beautiful save.

The win relieves Atletico Madrid’s hope of automatic progression to the last 16, while Slovan could not progress, as it is a disappointing season for them.
