Former president and president-elect Donald Trump has nominated a former NFL star and a member of the House of Representatives from Texas (2013-2017) Scott Turner as his preferred candidate for the Secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
“I am pleased to nominate Scott Turner, from the Great State of Texas, as the Secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).” Trump mentioned this on Friday in a press release, commending Turner’s leadership experience and dedication to helping underserved communities grow.
The former NFL player has a good track record and experience in public service, including community development. He is currently serving as chair of the Center for Education Opportunity at the America First Policy Institute, an idea that sits well with Trump’s policies.
Turner was the executive director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council during the first term of Donald Trump, where he worked to assist communities that are distressed across the United States through the development of the economy and revitalization efforts.
To add to all the Turner has achieved, he is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Community Engagement & Opportunity Council (CEOC), a brand that is responsible for improving communities through mentorship, sports, and economic opportunities.
Turner’s leadership at the Community Engagement & Opportunity Council (CEOC) shows his dedication to helping people and creating pathways that lead to success.
This recent nomination supports the president-elect’s promise to look into community development, housing access, and economic revitalization, especially in underserved communities within the country.
Scott Turner will be expected to bring a unique blend of sportsmanship, leadership, and community-focused initiatives to HUD when his appointment is confirmed.
“Scott will work alongside me to Make America Great Again for EVERY American. Congratulations to Scott, his wonderful wife, Robin, and his son, Solomon!” Trump said in the release.
