Brazil Draw Uruguay In 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

Brazil was held to a 1-1 draw by Uruguay in Tuesday’s South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Brazil’s Gerson scored an equalizer that leveled the game to a draw after Federico Valverde scored the opener for Uruguay.

Brazil which currently boasts as five time winner of World Cup has accumulated only 18 points in the campaign while they remain in the fifth position in CONMEBOL standings. While Uruguay has moved to second position with accumulation of 20 points, five behind Argentina.

Any country that makes it to top six in the group will automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup in United States, Mexico and Canada.

Both sides met a deadlock in the first half while Real Madrid’s Valverde scored the first goal of the match in the 55th minute after shooting a low strike from a distance.
