Adam Armstrong helps newly promoted Southampton secure its first Premier League win since the season started with a 1-0 victory against Everton at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.

The team still sits at the second-bottom of the Premier League table in the relegation zone despite the win securing only four points from 10 matches, while Everton boasts nine points sitting in the 16th place on the table.

Everton dominated the matches in the early minutes of the game with an aggressive push for a win, but the hosts slowly took control of the game with more of the possession on their side. The best chance of the first half was a shot that was fired by Cameron Archer and broke Everton’s defense while the effort did not end up in a goal.

Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale saved efforts from Orel Mangala and Michael Keane, denying the two Everton stars chances of getting a goal a few minutes when the second half commenced.

Armstrong finally found the net in the 85th minute, when he slotted the ball in his possession home after a quick counterattack, moments after Beto hit the bar, Everton.

Beto’s goal was ruled out for offside when Everton thought that they had equalized. This victory ended Everton’s five-game unbeaten run.
