Utah Hockey Club just shared a happy moment after they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks in the first match of the season with a score of 5-2 on Tuesday at the Delta Center. Dylan Guenther was the sought-after man after he scored two goals, including the first in the franchise’s history.
Barrett Hayton joined Dylan Guenther in contributing to Utah’s win as he scored a goal and made an assist, while Clayton Keller added another goal to the score list. Logan Cooley and Nick Schmaltz each added two assists that show the team’s offensive and depth prowess.
Teuvo Teravainem and Nick Foligno scored each of the Blackhawks’s goals, while Connor Bedard recorded two assists for the team. Petr Mrazek helped the team record 20 saves during the match.
Guenther scored the first goal for the Utah Hockey Club at 4:56 during the first period to record the team’s 1-0 lead. Keller scored shortly after at 13:35 to put the team at a 2-0 lead after he converted a rebound from a shot that was fired by Schmaltz.
Just at 8:46 of the second period, Hayton scored a goal that extended the Utah Hockey Club’s lead to 3-0, deflecting a shot fired by Mikhail Sergachev. The deflection record is Mikhail Sergachev’s first point with Utah since he joined the team from the Tampa Bay Lightning on June 29.
The Blackhawks finally gave a response as Teravainen scored in the second period on a backhand shot from a centering pass by Bedard at 14:27 to put the game at 3-1. Alex Vlasic scored a goal that increased the Blackhawks’ chances to two goals.
Guenther scored his second goal that sealed the game for Utah with just 42 seconds remaining after he recovered a rebound from Cooley’s long shot that extended the team’s lead to 4-2, while Lawson Crouse sealed the win after he scored to end the game at 5-2 to the Utah Hockey Club’s advantage.
