British online personality and rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been charged with multiple offenses in Perth, Australia, following allegations of a serious assault.
According to The BBC, Yung Filly is accused of four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count of impeding a person’s breathing. The 29-year-old entertainer, known for his work with the YouTube comedy group Beta Squad and his appearances on various UK television shows, was arrested in Brisbane and subsequently extradited to Perth to face the charges.
After performing at Bar1 nightclub in Perth on September 28, the rapper allegedly brought a woman in her twenties back to his hotel room, where the assault reportedly took place. The video below shows the moment when Yung Filly was arrested.
The charges have led some organizations associated with Yung Filly to swiftly cut ties with the rapper. The Telegraph reported that the Football Association (FA) in the UK removed content featuring the rapper from their YouTube channel almost as soon as the incident was made public.
The news outlet wrote that Yung Filly had been part of a healthy eating initiative called “Freestyle Cooking,” which included appearances by prominent England football players. The FA-backed campaign, supported by M&S Food, was aimed at encouraging young people to experiment with healthy cooking alternatives.
Yung Filly has a huge online presence, boasting millions of followers across various social media platforms. His career has seen him host shows on BBC Three and make appearances on popular UK television programs such as Soccer Aid on ITV and The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer on Channel 4. In 2021, he was awarded a MOBO for best media personality.
The rapper’s legal representative, barrister Seamus Rafferty SC, filed for bail on his behalf, as reported by the Brisbane Times. Magistrate Tanya Watt granted him bail despite objections from police prosecutors, who were concerned that he could be a flight risk or that he would try to intimidate a witness.
However, she included some conditions as part of the bail agreement. These conditions include a personal undertaking of $100,000 and an additional $100,000 surety to be signed by someone in Western Australia.
In addition, Yung Filly is required to surrender his passport, report regularly to Northbridge Police Station, and is prohibited from approaching the alleged victim or witnesses. He is also barred from attending nightclubs or hotels and is not allowed to discuss the case online. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 19 and he will be waiting in WA till the date arrives.
