Manchester United has fired head coach Erik Ten Hag after a series of woeful results since the beginning of the 2024/2025 season. The coach’s sack might be a relief to some Man U fans following his decision to bench star player Christiano Ronaldo in the starting lineup against Man. City which ended in a 6-3 defeat.
The Premier League giants came to this final conclusion after the team lost 2-1 to West Ham United in their fixture on Sunday.
Ten Hag, who had his contract extended in the summer, had just four wins from 13 games to start the new season. It was not good enough.
Moving on, Ruud Van Nistelrooy will take over on an interim basis, and he will lead the charge as United takes on Leicester City at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
United has earned only 11 points from nine league games and might not qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Last season wasn’t any better. However, despite conversations with potential replacements, Ratcliffe and his INEOS team decided to keep Ten Hag in his job and extend his contract until June 2026.
United finished eighth in the table last season and are currently seated at 14th after their defeat to West Ham.
The leaders of the giant club are currently looking for a replacement for the estranged Dutchman, and they have reportedly talked to a few candidates.
