Local authorities in Argentina confirmed that a former member of One Direction Liam Payne lost his life after he jumped from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, according to an article posted by the New York Post.
The singer, who was only 31 years old before his death, jumped from his hotel room on Wednesday.
The audio of a call that captures the voice of the hotel manager with 911 was obtained by the outlet describing the issue to emergency responders. The manager was heard in the audio telling the emergency responders that the hotel had “a guest who is overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol… He’s destroying the entire room, and we need you to send someone, please.” His tone in the audio suggests that the situation becomes more urgent as he notes that the room has a balcony.
One of the staff members of the hotel says Payne was seen as appearing intoxicated with the possibility of being “under the influence of alcohol and drugs,” which suggests that he needed immediate assistance.
He did not mention the name of Payne as being the hotel guest, according to a transcript obtained from the Argentine outlet La Nacion.
In addition to what was said to have caused the death, Buenos Aires Security Ministry’s communications director Pablo Policicchio stated that the singer’s death was a result of a jump from his balcony. The director also added that “[He] had jumped from the balcony of his room,” which is on the third floor of the hotel building.
The singer was reported to have sustained a lot of injuries, which eventually led to his demise immediately, according to the report by the local authorities.
