The Colombia national team secured a very confident win over Chile in a 4-0 match for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Colombia put all doubt behind them as the team destroyed Chile at the Metropolitano Stadium in Barranquilla. This victory put Colombia in the second position in their group with 19 points.

It was a well-deserving victory for the Colombian team, as they dominated from the beginning of the match with an offensive and effective style of play that destroyed the Chilean defense.

Colombia are back with confidence and hoping to win more as they proceed with the qualifier match in revenge for their setback against Bolivia in La Paz.

The first goal of the match was scored by Davidson Sanchez, who converted a corner kick into a goal to make it 1-0 with a header. Davidson Sanchez’s goal boosted the Colombian team’s confidence with control over the game. They dominated from the beginning but could not score a goal until Sanchez scored a header in the 34th minute of the game.

Not long after the first goal, Liverpool star Luiz Daiz scored another goal to make it 2-0 in the 52nd minute after a team play that put him alone before the opponent’s post.

Substitute Jhon Duran added another goal in the 82nd minute to make it 3-0, while Luis Sinisterra scored the final goal in extra time of 90 + 3 minutes, but Chile could not find the back of Colombia’s net.

Despite securing 19 points and winning 4-0 against Chile, Colombia still has to make an extra effort as Jhon Cordoba received a yellow card after he committed a foul in the first half, which means that he will not feature in the team’s next game against Uruguay in November, which may likely affect the team’s performance then.

Colombia now stands a chance of featuring in the 2026 World Cup with this win.
