Tua Tagovailoa Suffers Concussion In “Thursday Night Football” After Collision With Bills Safety Damar Hamlin

Tua Tagovailoa, who plays quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, suffered an injury at the “Thursday Night Football” when he took a hit from Damar Hamlin, a Buffalo Bills safety.

The concussion occurred on a major 4th-and-4 play where the Dolphin’s quarterback scrambled for a first down but hit headfirst with the Bills safety, hitting his head on the turf.

Injured Tagovailoa initially stood up and requested help; he looked very disorganized with his hands shaking without control. Medical staff ran to provide him aid as players of the two teams kneeled on the field.

He later walked away from the field by himself but was limping. He was taken to the locker room instead of entering the medical tent; doctors later confirmed that he had a concussion.

Tagovailoa has earlier encountered head injuries and suffered three concussions in the 2022 season, and a terrible one when his team featured against the Cincinnati Bengals that caused him to be taken away from the field on a stretcher. The last concussion that he had then in Week 16 ended his season early as he could not participate till the end.

After the 2022 season, he considered retirement because of the CTE and head injuries, but he featured again in the 2023 season.
