Real Madrid returned in the second half to give a surprising comeback that earned the team its victory, helping it to secure an unbeaten start to the La Liga season and close on leader Barcelona, as they sit a point behind the club.

Thibaut Courtois’s own goal shocked the defending champion as it earned Espanyol an early lead in the second half of the game.

Not long after, Real Madrid was not discouraged, as it immediately responded as Dani Carvajal made it a draw, followed by hand from Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo that earned Real Madrid another three points.

Espanyol got the lead from Jofre Carreras’ cross, which was deflected off Courtois’ left leg and into the ball, finding it inside the net.

However, the reigning champion did not waste any time, as that responded with Carvajal scoring three minutes later after a calculative play that came from Jude Bellingham.

Los Blancos took dominance as Vinicius had a perfect assist to Rodrygo, who did not relent in firing home to put Real Madrid on top of the game. Vinicius extended the advantage to score from a counterattack.

Endrick was fouled in the six-yard box, and Mbappe confidently converted the penalty in injury time. The victory pushed Real Madrid to the second position while sitting at the 13th position on the La Liga table.
