Arne Slot was almost going to have a bad record for Liverpool, as his first Champions League game at San Siro against AC Milan saw the latter leading 1-0, but Liverpool ended up returning a spectacular comeback.

AC Milan through Christian Pulisic took the lead just three minutes in when Pulisic broke forward without being disturbed by any of Liverpool’s defense and scored the first goal.

Liverpool almost had a comeback, but Mohamed Salah’s attempt hit the underside of the bar, it was not long before Ibrahima Konate made it a perfect draw as he scored a header that came from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross to make it 1-1.

After Ibrahima Konate’s goal, Virgil van Dijk scored another goal that gave Liverpool a lead against AC Milan, heading in a Kostas Tsimikas corner.

Milan missed it early in the second half when goalkeeper Mike Maignan was forced off with an injury, leaving teenager Lorenzo Torriani in goal. Torriani was unable to prevent Dominik Szoboszlai from sealing Liverpool’s win with Szoboszlai’s goal.

Liverpool stole the possession after they equalized, with Salah’s attempt hitting the woodwork another time and Cody Gakpo testing Maignan.

Rafael Leao’s attack did not stop the Premier League giant, Liverpool, from winning the game to ensure that the new manager, Arne Slot, celebrated his 46th birthday with a hard-fought victory.
