Alexander Isak scored a goal for Newcastle United sealing their three points against Tottenham 2-1 in an interesting match that was played at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe’s side scored the first goal in 37 minutes when Harvey Barnes converted Lloyd Kelly’s cross from the left into an excellent goal that gave them the lead.
Tottenham took the possession and were ahead of Newcastle United in terms of performance after the restart and deservedly leveled when Dan Burn bundled substitute Brennan Johnson’s cross-shot into his own net, causing an own goal that gave away the opportunity for Tottenham to clinch one point.
Luck did not really shine on Ange Postecoglou’s men despite their dominance; it didn’t reflect in the scoreboard as they were surprisingly defeated 2-1 by Newcastle United.
Newcastle pushed forward to ensure that they pay with a lightning counterattack 12 minutes from time as substitute Jacob Murphy sets up Isak to roll home.
This result means that Newcastle has started well having their first two home matches in a Premier League season for the first time since 2000/0, which pushed them up to the fourth spot in the Premier League table as they sit with seven points on their side and have won two and drawn one in their three outings.
Tottenham also suffered their first loss of the Premier League season that just commenced, and they now sit in the 10th spot of the league’s table.
Newcastle will be playing their next match against Wolves on Sunday, September 15, after the international break, as Tottenham is scheduled to combat their neighbors, Arsenal.
