Former Secretary of Defense Advocates for Harris Administration on National Security

A former Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, moved away from topics that resonate with reproductive rights, civil rights, and justice to push for national security and the military in his support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for presidency, on the final day of the Democratic convention.

Panetta shows disdain for Trump’s foreign policy and claims that the administrations of both Harris and Walz would shield democracy from the hands of “tyrants and terrorists.”

The Democratic convention that took place in Chicago runs through Thursday evening when the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee will officially accept the party’s nomination for the 2024 presidential election.

The convention is currently being held from August 19–22 at the United Center, the official home of both the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks.

This is the 11th time that Chicago will be hosting the Democratic Convention, with the most recent being in 1996, when President Bill Clinton officially accepted his nomination for a second term at the United Center.
