A student in Parkland High School, North Carolina, was videoed repeatedly slapping and verbally insulting his teacher. The black boy is now facing three misdemeanor charges of assaulting the white woman after the clip got to authorities.
The hooded boy, aged 16, was seen in the video clip repeatedly physically assaulting his teacher, who sat calmly with crossed legs. The incident happened in the classroom, in the presence of other students who mostly laughed and jeered while recording it on their mobile phones.
Collin Rugg noted that, unlike most cases of students assaulting their teachers and going unpunished, the district attorney launched an investigation within an hour after the video was posted.
“This isn’t about the color of your skin”, Forsyth county DA Jim O’Neil said, “this isn’t about your political affiliation, today is about one thing. Sending a message to the teachers out there, that law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office support you, we care about the job you do.”
