Toyota Motor has unveiled the first new 4Runner SUV in nearly 15 years, marking the completion of a recent redesign of the automaker’s current trucks and SUVs.
The 2025 4Runner, reminiscent of the recently revamped Toyota Tacoma pickup, will introduce a hybrid engine option for the first time, along with new upscale trims labeled “Platinum” and “Trailhunter.”
Dave Christ, Toyota group vice president and general manager, expressed excitement about the versatility and capability of the all-new 4Runner, emphasizing its continuation of the rugged style beloved by customers while integrating fresh features.
Toyota’s “truck family,” including the Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia, has undergone redesigns and now shares the same global truck platform introduced with the Land Cruiser and Tundra in 2021.
Pricing for the 2025 4Runner will be disclosed closer to its release date, with current models ranging from approximately $41,000 to over $55,000.
Toyota, known for its fuel-efficient vehicles like the Prius, aims to improve fuel economy across its SUV lineup, including the 4Runner, which previously had lower fuel ratings.
The upcoming 4Runner’s hybrid engine, integrated with an eight-speed transmission, boasts impressive power output, offering up to 326 horsepower and 465 foot-pounds of torque.
With nine models available, including the TRD Pro and Trailhunter, the 2025 4Runner caters to various preferences, from off-road enthusiasts to those seeking luxury features.
Manufactured at Toyota’s Tahara plant in Japan, production of the 2025 4Runner signifies the company’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its truck and SUV portfolio with innovative technology and design.
