When the game went to overtime, the Stars got one point, and that made them the number one team in the Western Conference playoffs. They got another point when Jason Robertson scored a goal during the shootout. That was enough for the Stars to win the game.
Jason Robertson, one of the players on the Stars team, said, “This game was a good practice for us before the playoffs start.”
The last time the Dallas Stars were the top team in the Western Conference was in 2016. That was also the last time they won the Central Division title. This season, the Stars did really well, with 113 points, which is almost as good as their best-ever season in 1998-99 when they won the Stanley Cup.
The fans were really happy at the end of the game because they knew the Stars were going to be the top team in the playoffs. This means the Stars will get to play most of their games at home.
The Stars will play against either the Vegas Golden Knights or the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the playoffs. These teams will play their last game of the season on Thursday.
The St. Louis Blues didn’t make it to the playoffs this year. They finished in ninth place in the Western Conference.
Jordan Binnington, the goalie for the Blues, did a good job too, making 36 saves during the game. But Mason Marchment scored a goal for the Stars, and that helped them win the game.
There was a really cool moment during the game when Jake Oettinger made an amazing save with his skates off the ice. He jumped across the goal and stopped the puck with his glove. It was a great save!
