People from both political parties are saying nice things about Bob Graham. Even President Joe Biden had good things to say about him. Bob Graham did a lot for Florida and the country.
Bob Graham grew up in Dade County. He went to Harvard Law School. Then, he got into politics. He cared about civil rights, schools, and nature.
When Bob Graham was governor, he did a lot of “workdays.” That means he did different jobs to see what it was like for regular people. He did over 400 “workdays” during his career.
Bob Graham also cared a lot about the environment. He did a program to save the Everglades and the manatees.
Even after he stopped being governor, Bob Graham still helped. He was part of a group to stop an oil spill from happening again.
“I was a little peon. … You don’t see that anymore. He came over to me, made me feel like a million dollars, remembered my name,” Vancore recalled. “That little thing really mattered and he went out of his way to do that. I found that to be, like wow.”
Lots of people respected Bob Graham, even if they were in different political parties. He was an important person in Florida history.
“I am entirely sure that we need more Bob Grahams in politics, and I am certain Florida will very much miss the one we had,” Johnson wrote in a column posted Wednesday on Florida Politics. “Legends do not pass our way often. Peace and comfort to his family and friends.”
