Nigeria suffered the defeat against Mali, conceding one goal in each half of the game.
E. Toure broke the deadlock for Mali in the 18th minute, leaving the runners-up of the recent African Cup of Nations unable to equalize in the first half.
K. Doumbia secured the win for Mali with an 84th-minute strike from the center of the box.
This defeat marked the first loss for interim coach George Finidi since taking charge after Jose Peseiro’s contract expired. Finidi had previously won his debut game in a friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana.
Following the 2-1 defeat to Nigeria in the international friendly, Ghana national team head coach Otto Addo expressed that the Black Stars were unlucky against the Super Eagles.
