The family of a young boy, who tragically lost his life after going missing at a lake, expressed that he had been eagerly anticipating the next phase of his journey.

Staffordshire Police confirmed that the body of 17-year-old Sonny Leese Clark was found following a search of Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire on Sunday, after their presence since Saturday evening upon the sighting of three boys in the water.

While one of the youngsters managed to escape unharmed, the other two, including Sonny, encountered difficulties. They were rescued and taken to the hospital, with both being discharged thereafter.

According to police reports, Sonny and his friends were spending time at the lake on Friday when the incident occurred.

Described by his family as a “lovely, kind, good-natured boy,” Sonny was a student at Leek High School.

Insp. Mark Barlow of Staffordshire Police confirmed the discovery of Sonny’s body just after 17:00 GMT on Sunday.

Rudyard Lake, housing the Rudyard Sailing Club offering water sports activities, poses significant depth and rapid changes, as noted by Jane Hill, a senior club member. She emphasized the danger of entering cold water without proper thermal protection.
