After Celta Vigo’s 2-2 draw at Cadiz, coach Rafa Benitez expressed his frustration.
The team had a 2-0 lead with goals from Iago Aspas and Williot Swedberg, but Cadiz mounted a comeback with goals scored by Juanmi and Darwin Machis.
Benitez later said: “We knew that it could be a very difficult match in terms of the intensity and the pressure that they were going to apply. That’s how it was and with all that we have gone 0-2 and they are situations that you have to take advantage of and handle.
“We were unable to maintain that advantage. We needed to manage those final minutes.
“All the teams that are down have conceded goals in the final minutes, it’s normal. Once again a game that we have in our hands and it slips away from us. We have to learn now, because otherwise it won’t work.
“We needed to attack some balls that were easy for us and handle the situation a little more calmly, it’s something we’ve talked about in training and we’ve worked on.”
