Copenhagen Secures Crucial Point At Bayern Munich To Keep Their UCL Hopes Alive

Denmark giants Copenhagen managed to hold group leaders Bayern Munich to a draw and secure a point to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Bayern, already guaranteed a spot in the last 16 prior to kick-off, played sparingly and without vigor. It seemed like they were just trying to complete their games.

The result means Manchester United needs to beat Bayern Munich in their final Group A game at Old Trafford on 12 December and hope Copenhagen and Galatasaray draw their game.

Copenhagen had an early chance when Roony Bardghji’s 27th-minute shot breezed narrowly wide and Thomas Mueller’s close-range header for Bayern was saved by keeper Kamil Grabara.

Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer came up with a double save in the final five minutes to deny Elyounoussi and the Danish side from snatching a win.

United are bottom of Group A with four points from five matches but still just one point shy of Copenhagen and Galatasaray.

“It’s always me (who is to blame for throwing away leads). I am responsible for this, but also know we are in a project,” Ten Hag said of his team’s performance.

“We are in the right direction, so I know where we have to go and which steps we have to take and I’m sure we will be successful in the long term.

“If we want to stay in the Champions League, we have to win the next game.”
